The Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) has recently been named The Best Foreign Bank in Vietnam 2007 by leading financial publication, FinanceAsia.
HSBC in Vietnam was selected for the award based on its financial strength and performance, franchise value, acquisitions franchise, number of employees, client base, major deals won during the period and testimonials from clients.
\"A prestigious award for the last two consecutive years means the reconfirmation of our customers\' trust as well as the high recognition from independent industry leaders for our consistent, professional and world class services,\" said Thomas Tobin, President and CEO of HSBC in Vietnam.

Earlier, HSBC was named The Best Retail Bank in Vietnam 2006 by the Asian Banker, one of the most reputable Asian research and intelligence companies, for its outstanding performance in 2006.
In Vietnam, HSBC first opened an office in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) in 1870. In August 1995, HSBC opened a full-service branch in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2005, HSBC also opened its second branch in Hanoi and established a representative office in Cantho.
