Ford Vietnam is a joint venture established in 1995 between Ford Motor Company (75%) and Song Cong Diesel Company (25%) with total investment of US$ 102 million. It began business operation in 1997 with a total plant capacity of 14,000 units per year. The Ford plant in Hai Duong is the first automotive manufacturer in Vietnam with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, QS9000 and ISO TS 16949 accreditation.
Among automobile manufacturers in Vietnam, Ford VN is one of the companies who contributed very much to the society, especially with environment protection, cultural heritage preservation and road safety education activities. Since 2000, its Environment Protection and Cultural Heritage Preservation Sponsorship program has received 500 participants and contributed $240,000 to more than 60 projects, ranging from tortoise protection, biogas usage to traditional dance and literature preservation and development.
Ford Vietnam also take lead in road safety issues with activities such as building Safety Village for primary school pupils, granting helmets for school pupils, educating school pupils traffic safety lessons through Going to school safely contest, organizing training course about First Aid Actions for taxi drivers, granting Ford ambulance minibuses for Red Cross organization and granting helmets for all Ford Vietnams and Ford Dealer\'s employees.
